Lisa spent several years as a stay at home parent and community volunteer, and currently works as a freelance copywriter.

Lisa was elected to Position 5 in May 2015. During her time on the Board, Lisa has served on the Audit Committee, Budget Committee, Board Evaluation Committee, Superintendent Evaluation Committee, Student Advisory Committee, Policy Committee, Advocacy Committee, and the School Safety Committee.

She has served as Board Chair since 2017.

Prior to her Board Service, Lisa served as the Chair of the Citizen Curriculum Advisory Committee for two years. As well, Allen volunteered for the 2013 Bond Campaign Steering Committee, and as a Hillsboro School District classroom volunteer. She has been a volunteer for the SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) program, Family Promise, Girls on the Run, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, Washington County Kids, Hillsboro Soccer Club, and more.

In 2018, Allen was awarded the Washington County Public Health Ambassador award for her leadership in updating district health policy. In 2017, she completed the Oregon School Boards Association’s Leadership Oregon program, the highest level of Board service training available in the state.

Under her leadership, the Hillsboro School Board has added student representatives to the Board, completed the Oregon Schoool Boards Association Promise program (resulting in a $5,000 scholarship to benefit district students), implemented a new Board Member training program, passed a $408 million bond, and begun an entire policy update and overhaul process.

Lisa and her husband, Kyle, share a deep passion for community service and are raising their two children in Hillsboro. Their children attend an HSD elementary school and participate in the district’s dual language program. They enjoy participating in community sports and Hillsboro Parks and Library activities.
